Breakdance ( Bboyin/Bgirlin) Class:

Warm up (15 minutes):

Neck, shoulders roll, back, ankles, knee roll, hips
Wrist and hands (very important because most of the dance is on the ground)
Some Abs and Push-ups

History: (5 min)

I usually form a circle and give them some history about Hip Hop and today’s society.

Basics: (20 min)

Top rock, footwork and freezes are the foundation of B-boyin’

1. Toprock:

These are the moves that the breaker do when he enters the circle.
There are many different kinds of toprocks. After learning the basics, you can be creative.

2. Footwork:

Sixsteps is the very basic one but there are hundreds of different footworks with different variants.

3. Freezes:

Handstand, headstand, baby freeze, chair freeze, bridges…A freeze could be any pose, you just have to freez for about 2 seconds.

Routine: (20 min)

Put together top rock, footwork and a freeze.

The last ten minutes of the class should be taken for a freestyle circle where kids can do whatever they wants. Creativity is important. Have them learn to be imaginative, to freestyle and create something new.
